A Stop in Buckden…

October 15, 2009 By Cari

The Goblin had the day off so today we went out for a late drive and impulsively stopped in Buckden, off the A1 (otherwise known as The Great North Road). We ended up visiting the church and of course I had to take some pictures…

Buckden church and the tower which is now flats or something...

The floor of the altar...I love it...it's mosaic French fleur de lis...
The floor of the altar...I think this would make a fantastic print for fabric...
The Goblin in the church
The Goblin in the church...he doesn't look blurry in real life!
A close up of one of the pew ends...each one was different!

It was a pleasant day ambling about without a schedule…

    All of England’s majestic architecture to photograph and you take a picture of a rose.

    lol. It’s a lovely rose, don’t get me wrong. And I’m quite fond of roses but I am also totally jealous of your current locale.

    @charity
    You make me laugh! I tried taking some photos of the gorgeous carved wooden angels inside the church, but most of the pictures look black…we need to get a flashgun, but its cheapter to use a tripod, but we always forget to bring the tripod! I tried to take a photo of the bell tower (the area at the bottom of the steeple inside the church where the bell ropes hang down) it was a fantastic image of the different coloured ropes all elegantly swagged up against the stone wall so people like me couldn’t be tempted to ring them! They must have nine bells. The next time you come I’ll bring my camera and treat you to some photo-torture. When my baby sister was here, I think I took over a thousand pictures of her (as in a thousand pictures of her visiting various places). I love taking pictures of people.

    Speaking of taking pictures of people, have you heard about
    http://thesartorialist.blogspot.com this guy takes pictures of people on the streets of large cities around the world to illustrate street fashion. He’s SO GOOD!!! His pictures are better than most of the rubbish you see in fashion magazines. I find the blog strangely uplifting…it’s like having someone say, “Go on, be yourself…wear whatever you want…you can look great!” I may look like a pumkin when I wear my favorite orange shirts but pumkins are cute and I love orange! So I’m going to wear it…just not every day! 🙂

    Hi, I just wanted to thank you for all the pictures you have taken through out the year and sharing them with us. Enland is one of the places I would like to visit someday, along with Spain and France. Eygpt is on the list too, I’m interested in ancient history and places.

    @Victoria
    You’re very welcome, I love sharing pictures! There’s a whole list of places I’d like to go…the day I run out of dreams is the day…well frankly I just can’t imagine that happening, but then I’ve always had a long list! 🙂

    cari, I would love, love, love, love, love if there was a way to get comments responses sent to my email (like blogger does) I always forget to come check if you’ve responded and then I feel bad when I don’t respond quick enough.

    😉

    I will go check out the blog, I’m excited.
